Scanning

Scan a pedigree document

Photograph the whole document, choose its registry, and review every result before importing.

Take a readable picture

Keep all four corners visible, avoid glare, and make the printed names as sharp as possible. Fold lines are usually acceptable when the text remains visible.

Review before importing

The scanner proposes names and pedigree positions. Correct anything uncertain before choosing Import.

If a scan fails

Retry with a clearer image. Deleted, unimported scans are retained in the administrator diagnostic archive so a scanner problem can be investigated.

  1. Open the failed scan and read its image guidance.
  2. Retake the entire document in even light.
  3. If it fails again, report the displayed HoundLine error code.
